The aims and objectives of the society are: To be a gathering place for people with an interest in genealogy, specifically those with an interest in the history of Samsoe and to facilitate the information gathering of genealogical and local history, and the exchange of same among members.
The Society is open to all, regardless of domicile. A membership relates to a household with one vote per membership. The membership fee has been set at 150 DKK. a year
At the general meeting on May 19th, 2001 the society was the recipient of a major genealogical archive from Ebba and Laurits Kjær-Hansen in Ringsted, which is now housed at the old school in Onsbjerg, Samsø.
All members of the society may use the material in the archives as well as participate in the registration of families and photographs
If you live away from Samsoe you may contact a member of the executive residing on Samsoe for information about your family.
The Society publishes a genealogical yearbook of appx. 130 pages.
The archives are open for family research at Tanderupvej 15 in Onsbjerg. Please check the opening hours before your visit as it may vary from time to time.
The annual general meeting takes place in May or June along with a family research get-together, dinner, lectures and possibly a video or slide show presentation.
In brief, that will be the high point for everyone.
